When we are humble we are not proud or haughty, we are free from pride.
Pride can create a negative impact whilst been humble will create a positive impact.
God wants us to be humble. Micah 6 verse 8 says – He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
When we are humble, then we receive more from God. When we realise what is written in Proverbs 16 verse 18 – Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall and we understand that we are all created in God’s image, so we must treat people with respect. When we recognise the fact that sin is enmity with God and that we should not indulge in sinful behaviours because this separates us from God, it creates a distance. When we realize that we should be quick to reconcile with God and repent from our wrongs. When we appreciate the fact that it is God who gives us the Grace we need, then we begin to value living a life of humility. James 4 verse 6 says- But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Let us therefore value our relationship with God and continue to live a holy and humble life because God is pleased with a life of humility and holiness.
James 4 verse 10 says – Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
I pray the Lord will keep us humble so that we can all enjoy his lifting up.
